Match report
A lively Livingston put Caley Thistle out of the Cup at the first hurdle. ICT started well and Barry Robson sent two headers wide of the post in the first 4 minutes. Scott McLean volleyed wide in the 5th minute and Jim Calder took the ball off the feet of John Millar a minute later. In 9 minutes Livingston took the lead from a David Bingham penalty after Andrew Allan had handled. Play was end to end but Livingston were on target more often. For a 15 minute spell midway through the first half Calder had to be on top form. At the other end Alexander punched away a Robson corner in 22 minutes, Robson hit past in 25 minutes and Duncan Shearer had a shot blocked in 37 minutes. With a minute of the half remaining a flick from Scott Mclean set up a Mike Teasdale shot Alexander parried it but it went in off Alan McManus. In 53 minutes Calder blocked a close-range shot from Craig Feroz then punched away a wicked John Robertson corner. In 62 minutes Livingston took the lead. McCormick collected a loose ball just inside the Caley Thistle half, ran goalwards then slipped it past Calder. In 67 minutes Barry Wilson set off on a solo run which ended when his shot hit off Gregg Watson for a corner. On the 75 minute mark David Craig did well on the left then sent over a cross for Barry Wilson his shot was deflected past. With 4 minutes left a Wayne Addicoat run on goal was only ended by a timely John Millar tackle. Livingston soaked up all the pressure and narrowly won 2-1.
