Match report
The first derby since 1996/97 was a bruising affair with 7 bookings and Countys Eddie Cunnington sent off for two yellow cards. County created little over the 90 minutes but still took the points with a penalty goal. Caley Thistle were well ahead in the first half but could not score. The second half was more even but still the home side created the only real chances. Mike Teasdale came back for Caley Thistle after 6 months on the sidelines. Davide Xausa had the first shot on goal in 8 minutes from 20 yards but Nicky Walker touched it over. Charlie Christie was brought down 19 yards out in 17 minutes but the free kick was blocked. Xausa won space in the County box in 27 minutes but was finally overpowered. A minute later Paul Sheerin sent in a blistering shot from 22 yards but Walker tipped it past. On the half hour mark an Iain Stewart downwards header bounced up onto the bar and two minutes into the second half Walker saved a Stewart glancing header. The turning point came in 54 minutes when Jim Calder dived to touch away a Steven Ferguson low shot. Darren Henderson raced for the ball and was brought down by the keeper. Alex Bone scored from the penalty a bitter blow against the run of play. In a rare County attack Ian Maxwell headed over on the hour. With 15 minutes left Ross Tokely sent over a cross from the right and Robson headed onto the bar. Seconds later Tokely headed onto the post. Despite Cunningtons dismissal in 76 minutes County hung on to win.
