ICTFC Team News

Inverness CT host Queen of the South at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium this weekend, knowing that a win would put them level on points with the visitors. The Caley Jags head into the match after a brilliant 4-1 win against Falkirk in Tuesday with goals coming from George Oakley, Connor Bell, Jake Mulraney and John Baird.

THE MANAGER : John Robertson

“It’s another massively important game. We spoke to the players about making our good performances count, I think had we stayed eleven v eleven against Livingston we’d have got all three points, we were desperately unlucky not to take something from Paisley and then we got our rewards the other night there [against Falkirk], by taking our chances.”

“We spoke after the St Mirren game to the players about them making the difference individually, we’re good as team when we play but we just hadn’t take the chances and St Mirren had. In fairness it was brilliant response from our players, with four of the forwards scoring and getting the result we deserved.”

“When you create as many chances as we do it’s nice to see them go in because it takes the pressure off the players, the fans and it was a convincing win. Saturday falls into that category, we’ve had two 0-0s with Queen of the South, they probably had the better of it up here, but we probably had the better of it down there.”

“We need to put the same performance in again, it’s doubly important as if we win it would put us right in the middle of the pack, and that’s where we want to be. For months now, we’ve been chipping away and now a victory on Saturday would get us right in there and set us up for the remainder of the season.”

THE OPPONENT

Gary Naysmith’s side currently sit fourth in the Ladbrokes Championship, after a strong season thus far.

Veteran striker, Stephen Dobbie has scored 20 goals across all competitions this season, and is the current top scorer in the Ladbrokes Championship with 11 league goals to his name.

Queens also have former ICTFC midfielder John Rankin and striker Chris Kane, who is on loan from St Johnstone, among their ranks.

TEAM NEWS

Carl Tremacro out with a hamstring injury and he will go for a scan to determine how the serious the injury is.

Aaron Doran had the following to say in the build up to the match: “We had a good result on Tuesday, we played some really nice football, especially in the first-half and we just want to carry that on. We know every game in this league in tough but we’re confident in the way we’re playing and looking for a win.”

“I think we are under the radar a bit, we’re creeping behind teams and we are doing it in a nice way at the moment. We’ve played some nice football and all we’re looking to do now is to move up the table and into the play-off places, then just looking to keeping going as high as we can go.”

“Queen of the South will be tough, they have some really good players, but we only look at ourselves and if we keep doing what we’re doing then we can get on top of them.”
