A foot in both previous camps and a strong desire for his home town (now Inverness City) to succeed and flourish provide Alan McPhee with admirable credentials as a member of both the Inverness Caledonian FC Board and the Club’s associated Charitable Trust.
After a career in the international oil and gas industry, Alan has been a member of the Club’s Board since March 2015, but his links go right back to the 1880s when his grandfather, Angus MacPhee, was one of the first captains of the fledgling Caledonian FC. However his personal loyalties began on the other side of the partnership, which ultimately brought the Scottish Cup, along with Premiership and European football to the Highlands, because Alan began life as a “Jaggie”.
“I was brought up in the Crown area of Inverness, just round the corner from Kingsmills Park so inevitably, along with the majority of my school friends, I became a Thistle supporter,” he explained. “I just had to sneak through an orchard to get to the ground, although I have to say that my father, remembering his own father’s football career, was a little disappointed that I had not followed the Caley route. But he fully understood my preference and supported it.” Alan went on to add “It was therefore relatively easy for me to be fully supportive of the 1994 merger of two of the great Highland League teams”.
