Caley Thistle fell to defeat at Ochilview as second-half goals from Grant Savoury and Stephen Eze won the match for Queen’s Park after Daniel MacKay had given Caley Thistle the lead in the first-half.
Caley Thistle started well as Jay Henderson saw an early effort from range blocked on route to goal. After just seven minutes, the home side went close as Stephen Eze met Dom Thomas’ free-kick in the box but his header came off the post.
Caley Thistle had a big chance of their own after 10 minutes, Nathan Shaw’s pass found Daniel MacKay one-on-one with Queen’s keeper Calum Ferrie but the Caley Thistle winger lost his footing before seeing his shot saved by the Queen’s keeper.
Daniel MacKay though did give Caley Thistle the lead after 26 minutes on the clock. A long ball came off the back of Billy Mckay and fell nicely into the path of Daniel MacKay on the edge of the box and he produced a fine finish past Calum Ferrie to open the scoring.
Queen’s Park came out strongly to start the second-half and they could’ve equalised after 56 minutes, Charlie Fox met Dom Thomas’ corner but the defender could only head wide.
Queen’s Park did draw level after 61 minutes, Euan Henderson produced a fine cross which found Grant Savoury in the box and he headed past Mark Ridgers to level the scoring.
Caley Thistle nearly retook the lead a minute after conceding. Jay Henderson did well to pick out Billy Mckay in the box but the striker couldn’t direct his header on target.
Queen’s Park then took the lead after 70 minutes on the clock, Dom Thomas’ corner picked out centre-back Stephen Eze in the box and the defender headed the ball past Ridgers to make it 2-1 to the home side.
Roddy MacGregor had come off the bench for Caley Thistle after 60 minutes and was forced off after 74 minutes after a heavy challenge.
Caley Thistle pressed into the final minute as Wallace Duffy had a chance to level the scores as he met Jay Henderson’s corner but his header was over and behind.
