CTFC chairman Graham Rae is the latest convert to walking football.  The Chairman took an invitational team to Hilton Community Centre to play in the weekly sessions run by the club’s community team.

Graham was joined by his former school pals, Davie Milroy, the former Inverness Thistle captain, and Billy Urquhart, the former Caledonian and Rangers striker, as well as Dr Colin Fettes, an investor in the club through the Muirfield Mills Group, and Jim Oliver, commercial and events manager at the club.

They played five-a-side games against the regular attenders of the walking football sessions and acquitted themselves pretty well, winning a round-robin competition.

Graham said: “Our Head of Community, Craig Masterton, invited me to meet the players who attend the weekly walking football sessions and we agreed to take the invitation a step further by fielding a Chairman’s five.  It was really good fun and I can see the huge enjoyment that guys of my age get from the weekly get togethers.  The adapted format of the game provides light physical activity and is a great way to keep fit, learn new skills and socialise at the same time.”

Graham added: “Our community department does a great job in engaging with people who love football at all ages – from 5 year olds right through to those in their 70s.  It is a hugely important part of what we are about.”

A regular attender at the weekly sessions is new ICTFC Director Gordon Fyfe.

The weekly sessions at Hilton Community Centre run from 1pm – 2.30 pm.  The sessions costs £3 per week and a playing top is provided.
