Inverness Caledonian Thistle U18s progressed into the next of the Scottish Youth Cup as they beat Hamilton Accies 3-2 in a thrilling cup tie in the Highlands, a brace from Daniel Mackay and a goal from Roddy MacGregor was enough to progress.

It was a rapid start by the Caley Jags as Daniel Mackay unleashed a strike from outside the box from about 30 yards which beat the Accies keeper after just 14 seconds on the clock.

Caley Thistle’s start got even better, Ross Gunn’s cross fell into the path of Roddy MacGregor, who finished low to make it 2-0 after just 10 minutes on the clock.

Mackay then made it 3-0 as he showed a great turn of pace to get behind the Accies left-back and cut inside to score.

Cameron Harper was close to picking out Roddy Kennedy at the back-post but his cross was slightly too heavy.

Accies got a foothold in the game in the 36th minute when Charlie Reilly pounced upon a mistake in the ICT defence and finished well in to the far off top corner of the net.The visitors then got another just three minutes later as Andrew Winter broke through on goal and finished low into the bottom corner.

In the second-half, a dangerous cross from Mackay went straight past everyone in the box just after the break.

Roddy Kennedy made way for Matheus Machado on the 63rd minute.

Roddy MacGregor was close to making it 4-2 but his effort was collected by Smith. Shortly after, MacGregor set Mackay up for a chance but his effort was just wide.

Donald Morrison almost sealed it late on but his effort at the back-post was straight at the goalkeeper.

The Caley Jags now advance to the 4th Round, where they will face Celtic at home, the details of this fixture are TBC.
