Liam Dalgarno, the businessman who introduced Subway to the Highlands, is joining the Board of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Avid supporter and community coach, Liam is the franchise owner of the Subway restaurants in Inverness, Nairn and Elgin.
He is also the Subway regional developer covering the Anglia region of England. Liam started this development role in 2011 when there were 44 restaurants. His region currently consists of 186 restaurants with a further 15 scheduled to open later this year.
Despite his business commitments, Liam makes sure he is back in the Highlands for ICT’s home matches.
Liam said: “I am delighted to have been invited to join the board of directors at the club. I have been a fan since the creation of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. My association with the club started when I helped fund the Healthy Hearts Project run by the club’s community department.
“In the 2014/15 & 2015/16 seasons, Subway became the main shirt sponsor of the club and has since sponsored the back of the shirts. I am very keen on youth development and working with the community but my main role will be to assist with the commercial side of the business.”
Club Chairman Graham Rae said: “We are delighted that Liam has accepted the invitation to join the Board of Directors. His commercial experience and expertise will be of huge value as we restructure and re-energise the business and focus on being a sustainable community-focused club.”
Liam will now become one of five directors – the others being Mr Rae, Allan Mackenzie (vice-chairman), Alan McPhee and Gordon Fyfe.
Last week, the club appointed Mrs Yvonne Crook as its Chief Executive.
