Our Club and Stadium are to be renamed following last week’s IRN-BRU cup win and the global popularity achieved by our new mascot, Lionel Nessie.

Psst: We hope our April Fool fun gave you a smile. While Lionel Nessie is indeed our new mascot , the club won’t be changing its name any time soon! #ProudToBeICTFC

The reaction has been so overwhelmingly positive, the directors of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC have made the radical decision.

As reported exclusively in today’s Daily Record & Sunday Mail, the Club is to be known as:

The “Loch Ness Monsters FC”.

And the Stadium:

The “Nessie Football Arena”.

Club Chairman Graham Rae said: “The whole thing has gone viral and lifted the spirits of everyone involved in the club and across the community. What a fantastic partnership bringing together two world-renowned icons.”

Lionel Nessie was introduced for the first time at the Cup Final and through social media channels. In no time, the club’s official Tweet had received 204,034 views and 28,646 engagements.

The mascot Lionel Nessie is being sponsored by the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition and this was further persuasion to Graham and his fellow board members that they should make the monstrously exciting changes.

To add additional cheer to hospitality within the stadium, a new club beer has also been commissioned to be labeled “HoppyNess”.

Olap Flori, vice president of European football governing body UEFA, has said the club’s recent success and their mascot Lionel Nessie have caught football’s imagination and put the new Loch Ness Monsters firmly on the global scene.

The Nessie name is now destined to live long in the annals of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club and the Scottish football game.
