Match report
How times have changed. Caley Thistle came here on the second last Saturday of 1999/00 to what was supposed to be the last game at Brockville. Falkirk had just missed out on a play-off place because the stadium did not meet SPL standards. A year ago the two teams contested third place in the last game of 2000/01. This season Caley Thistle are safe from relegation but Falkirk are destined for Division 2. With permission now granted for a new stadium Brockville is once more scheduled for demolition. Caley Thistle were forced to a squad of only 15 due to injuries and this was reduced to 14 when Roy McBain pulled a muscle in the warm up and was stretchered off. Despite the 0-0 score it was an entertaining game. The visitors dominated the first period and should have taken the lead in eight minutes when Barry Robson sent over a cross from the left to the back post. Paul Ritchie looked set to score but Myles Hogarth made a timely save. Dennis Wyness hooked into Hogarths arms then Graeme Stewart headed over from a Martin Bavidge cross. Falkirk improved in the second half and in 54 minutes Jim Calder made a fine diving save to deny Steven Craig. In 65 minutes Kenny Deuchar headed goalwards and it was cleared off the line by Bobby Mann. David Bagan repeated the feat to prevent Steven Rennie from scoring then he forced a good save from Hogarth at the other end. Caley Thistle finished strongly with Wyness hitting the post then Ross Tokely saw a net-bound header cleared off the line. Both sides had to settle for a point.
