Match report
A frustrating start to the season for the home side that dominated throughout but could not score. All three new signings played and Myles Hogarth celebrated his first game for Alloa with a penalty save. Hogarth denied Dennis Wyness in four minutes then in nine minutes a Ross Tokely angled header came off the bar. The best chance of the first half came in 21 minutes when Paul Ritchie headed on Barry Robsons corner but it was cleared off the line by Max Christie. The game was held up for nine minutes when the referee limped off in 27 minutes and he was eventually replaced by an assistant. The second half was not much better than the first but the opening looked to have come in 63 minutes. An ICT breakaway saw Wyness close in on Craig Valentine then slip the ball to Charlie Christie in the box. Christies shot was saved by Hogarth but it fell loose and Stuart Golabek slid in for the kill. Somehow the ball was taken off his foot by Valentine and the danger averted. Five minutes later Alloas Billy MacDonald handled on the line and was shown a red card. Tokelys penalty was pushed by Hogarth onto the post in some style. Despite 22 minutes with a man advantage Caley Thistle could not break down a resolute Alloa defence. Not the best of starts to the league season.
