Inverness Caledonian Thistle can confirm that Sean Welsh has left the club with immediate effect by mutual consent.
Welsh, 33 years-old, joined the club in August 2018 and in his first season at the club, won the ICTFC Players’ Player of the Year Award as the club reached the Semi Final of the Premiership Play-Offs and the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup.
Welsh was named the club’s captain at the start of the 2020/21 season. In season 2021/22, Sean played a key role in helping the team to the Premiership Play-Off Final against St Johnstone, starting in all the play-off matches in the run to the final.
During 2022/23, Sean played a vital role in helping the club reach the 2023 Scottish Cup Final against Celtic. Sean scored in the fifth round win against Livingston and the winning goal against Kilmarnock in the Quarter Final. Welsh captained the side in our semi-final victory against Falkirk and the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic at Hampden Park in June 2023.
This season, Sean has played 9 matches across all competitions.
He leaves the club having played in total 143 games, scoring 16 goals.
We thank Sean for all his contributions while at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and wish him the very best in the future.
