Following some very positive discussions over the last week, the club is delighted to be able to announce a brilliant initiative with Scottish Citylink and megabus to give additional travel capacity for Caley Jags fans to get to and from the Scottish Cup Final in Glasgow on Saturday June 3rd
Speaking to club media ICT CEO Scot Gardiner said, “Once the game was confirmed as being moved from the traditional 3pm kick-off to 5.30pm, we knew the additional massive logistical challenges that would throw up for our fans in the Highlands. Due to the cruise ship industry being in full swing and the summer holiday season in general, we knew that our own reach for buses would be severely limited and this was therefore a massive problem, especially with the new later kick-off time. Within a few days we had spoken to a number of people to try and come up with solutions and I could not be happier to be able to have worked with Robert Andrew of Scottish Citylink and his team to be able to provide an additional service to and from Hampden on the big day. It is very refreshing when a brilliant company steps into the breach to help the club like this for what is such a historic occasion for the club and the city.”
Mark Venables, UK Managing Director, megabus and Scottish Citylink said: “This is an important sporting occasion and we’re pleased to be able to help Inverness fans travel to the Cup Final through our dedicated coach service. We look forward to playing our part in making this a great occasion for all involved and we hope everyone attending enjoys the game.”
Thanks to this initiative, ICTFC Supporters now have the additional option to travel to Glasgow on the dedicated megabus.com or citylink.co.uk service prior to the match, which will depart Inverness Bus Station at 1200 and will drop off at Hampden Park at approx. 1600.
After the match the additional service will again depart from Hampden Park at 2015 (in the event of the game going to extra time or penalties this departure will be delayed until 2100).
Pre-booking is essential to ensure that there is sufficient capacity to carry all attending fans on the service after the match. Supporters should visit megabus.com or citylink.co.uk to book their tickets on the journey planner with the destination of ‘Hampden Park’. It is essential that passengers purchase their tickets in advance as travel cannot be guaranteed without a prior reservation.
Tickets for travel on the dedicated megabus and Scottish Citylink services to Hampden will be available to book online and from the ticket office in Inverness Bus Station from Saturday 6 May.
In addition to the above dedicated services, there are hourly departures from Inverness Bus Station to Glasgow, Buchanan Bus Station from 0625 on the day of the Cup Final. However, to ensure travel back from Hampden after the game passengers must have booked a ticket on the dedicated service.
