Head Coach Scott Kellacher spoke to the press ahead of tomorrow’s match against Queen of the South at the Caledonian Stadium
On getting back playing at home after a run of away matches
“It’s been a fair schedule, credit to the boys and to the fans. It was a hard week, I was glad to get through it to be honest and glad to get through it with no more injuries which was my biggest concern.”
“We were delighted to come away with six points out of the nine against three hard teams. The way we played and the way we won the two games was really pleasing.”
On the chance to go to 8th with a win this weekend potentially
“You want the fans to get excited, they can see we’ve chipped away but my main focus is just on winning games and if we catch Annan on Saturday that would be excellent, and we’d be over the moon, but we’d then need to keep kicking on.”
“It’s going to be a real hard game, and we still have 14 matches to go. If it happens this week then brilliant but Annan are fighting for the lives, they’re not going to just accept losing games, they will want to give themselves every chance too. It’s going to be tight; Montrose are in and around it as well. We’re just going to keep our heads down and try and win as many games as football as we can.
On the transfer window deadline coming up
“We’re still restricted to players under 20s, but we have until the end of February to take anyone on loan still. We’re still got that little window, which is good, but the boys are going fine.”
On Alfie Stewart
“Alfie has done great, he’s been excellent on the training ground. The position he’s playing isn’t one he’s too familiar with but he’s done really well there. His assist on Saturday was a great ball into the box and he took his goal very well. He just needs to kick on now, I’m sure he will because he’s a good footballer and he wants to play football in the right way.”
On Queen of the South
“We know we’re in for a hard game. When we played last week it was a hard match. It was two good teams, and probably for the neutral it would have been a good game to watch as both teams wanted to win. That’s what you want, it was refreshing to see them having a go at us and us having a go at them.”
On Luis Longstaff
“He’s back in contention, he’s trained a fair bit so we’ll see how he gets on. He got through training today [Thursday] so we’ll see how he is tomorrow [Friday] and take it from there. He’s been back training a couple of days so that has been ideal to get him back involved with the squad.”
