Head Coach Scott Kellacher gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s match against Arbroath at Gayfield Park
On this weekend’s match
“I’m excited, I’m looking forward to it and I have been like that for every match. I’m always excited going into games because we have an exciting group of players that are willing to learn, they’re keen and enthusiastic to do well and that’s all you can ask for.”
“We look forward to going into every game, the boys are doing fantastic, but we know how hard a game it is going to be. I think we’ve seen that anybody can beat anybody in this league. Cove beat Arbroath last week but they’ve signed a few players in Stanton, Penman plus one or two others as well.”
“They’re a good side, we played them earlier in the season and they beat us 2-0 up here. We got a man sent off that day which didn’t help. Hopefully we can go down there and give a good account of ourselves.”
On playing away from home
“We’ve done reasonably well away from home; we’re trying to make sure we get our home record really good as well. I think if we can mix up our wins home and away that would be ideal.”
“No matter what league been we’ve played in against Arbroath and no matter what team goes there, I think you’ve seen it’s a hard place to go and get results. We’ll be confident like we are going into every game, but we have to focus on what we do rather than looking at what they do too much.”
On the squad going forward after the transfer window
“I’m really confident in the squad, the squad we have now has got us to where we have got to. We have given ourselves a fighting chance, it has been a big ask in terms of the task we have been set. The boys have done great, every single one of them even the boys that haven’t played too many games. They’ve been on the training ground, pushing the other boys to their limits.”
“We’re happy with the squad. Whether we can another one in, we’ve got until the end of February [until the loan window shuts]. Hopefully nobody gets injured, we’ve got the squad we’ve got and that is more than enough for me.”
On the team only being 2 points adrift of 8th at this stage
“I always said and promised myself when I took over that I would go there and want to win games of football. Every manager does but there’s a way you want to go about it and that is the position we’re in. We need to look to win every game, we want to try and play attacking football because we want to score goals and that’s the only way you’ll win games.”
“What the group of players have done to get us to where we are right now has been incredible. From now until the end of the season, there may be a set back here or there, we understand that. I think you can see with the setbacks we’ve had, we’ve lost 1 out of the last 5 games and that set back pushed the boys on. There’s a good resilience about them, if we lose a game, they want to get right back on it at training and go again.”
