ICT legend Ross Tokely has rejoined the club, as a Youth Academy coach. Ross (39), who has his SFA Elite A Youth coaching licence, is mentoring, coaching and assisting throughout the youth team set up. Since his arrival he has been working with the Under 15 squad with Fiona McWilliams and Daniel MacLeod, and with the Under 14 squad with Ronnie Duncan. He has already taken his first coaching sessions and been on the touchline for matches against Hearts, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen at various age levels.
With 589 first team appearances, Ross is by some distance the player to play most first team games for the club. He also has the distinction of scoring in every division of the Scottish league system.
He netted 36 times in a career that spanned 16 years, starting in 1996 when then manager Steve Paterson signed him from Huntly. His service was marked with a testimonial against Sheffield United.
Ross went on to play for Ross County and Brora Rangers, where he was a player coach and manager until leaving at the end of the season.
He said: “It’s great to be back at the club that means so much to me. I had 16 happy years and some great memories. I am really looking to working with the ICT Youth Academy. This is a new and exciting challenge and can’t wait to get going.”
Ross was recruited by Danny MacDonald, Academy Director, who is delighted to have such an experienced and highly regarded coach in his Academy team.
Danny said: “Tokes is a legend at the club. He is a highly enthusiastic and talented coach and it’s great to have him back working with our young players. I have no doubt he will be a great asset to our Youth Academy.”
