Highland hat-trick as Caley Jags scoop awards

Caley Thistle's best ever start to an SPFL season just got better.....three times better.

John Hughes' table toppers have become only the second club ever to scoop all three premiership monthly awards - a real Highland quality treble.

Caley Jags are undefeated in August and yet to concede a goal, a wonderful achievement in its own right.

140911 awards

John Hughes was awarded manager of the month; Ross Draper has won player of the month; while 19 year old Ryan Christie achieved young player of the month.

Chairman Kenny Cameron said: "Something special is happening at our club - as highlighted by this historic clean sweep of the awards.”

"We are all thrilled but not surprised at a fine treble -- and I hope this ringing endorsement of the entertainment Caley Thistle are providing encourages more supporters to come along and witness it for themselves.”

"John Hughes is doing an excellent job and the response from the players has been superb. It's pleasing to see Ross and young Ryan also being honoured.”

“My sincere congratulations go to them all; this is another proud day for our club.”

"It also underlines that the club is progressing in the right direction -- and the more backing we receive, the stronger our position will be going forward. We are witnessing some of the best football ever played at the stadium but we do need our fans from all over the Highlands and beyond to come out in their numbers to give the boys the support they so richly deserve."

Caley Jags Together Chairman Davie Balfour said: "This is a really well deserved reward for ICTFC and especially for John, Ross and Ryan. We have been shouting from the rafters about how good we are to watch this year, but don't take our word for it - come along and cheer the boys on to what is shaping up to be the greatest of seasons. We need you there to push the Club on to even greater things so you and all of the fans can really say you were part of it"

Ross Draper's win came for his commanding form not only in midfield but at centre half when Gary Warren suffered a pre-match injury.

Ryan Christie has started every game this season and he made his Scotland Under-21 debut as a substitute earlier this week.
