Caley Thistle earned their first win of the league campaign, beating Queen of the South 1-0 at the Caledonian Stadium thanks to Billy Mckay’s first half strike.
Mckay hit his first of the season meeting Adam Brooks miss hit shot in the box to open the scoring.
Manager Duncan Ferguson was shown a late second yellow card and was set to the stand after some late frustration but Caley Thistle secured their first win after some late Queens pressure.
The Caley Thistle boss made two changes as Paul Allan and Adam Brooks came into the starting eleven while Keith Bray (injured) dropped out of the squad and Calum MacLeod dropped to the bench.
In a tight opening first-half, the first real chance came in the 20th minute as Billy Mckay broke the deadlock. Charlie Gilmour saw his effort from range blocked and the ball was put back into the box and found Adam Brooks and his miss-hit shot found Billy Mckay in the right place as he finished past Ross Stewart.
Caley Thistle looked for a second and Adam Brooks saw his effort held by Ross Stewart as he picked up the ball from Wallace Duffy after a great run from the right-back.
Caley Thistle made a change at the break as Calum MacLeod replaced Paul Allan with the midfielder going off with a tight hamstring.
Wallace Duffy went close after 55 minutes as his header from close range was held by Ross Stewart while Billy Mckay saw his effort hit the side netting after a good Caley Thistle move.
After 68 minutes, Adam Brooks went close to making it 2-0 as he saw his shot headed off the line by a Queen of the South defender.
There was a lengthly stoppage as Flynn Duffy went down and required to be stretchered off as he was replaced by new loan signing Connall Ewan.
