Caledonian would go on to win the trophy 19 times, a record equalled by local rivals Inverness Thistle. The trophy was introduced by the Highland Football League for teams resident within the burgh of Inverness – namely Caledonian, Citadel, Clachnacuddin and Inverness Thistle. Later, teams from outwith the area were invited to compete, to widen the competition.

Indeed, the last winners of the cup were Forres Mechanics in season 2005-6. The reintroduction of the cup will see Clachnacuddin play Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Grant Street Park tomorrow night.
