Caley Thistle secured a 3-0 win in their first match at the Caledonian Stadium this season thanks to first-half goals from Adam Brooks, Keith Bray and Luis Longstaff.

It was a strong start for Caley Thistle as they took the lead after just 9 minutes on the clock, Calum MacLeod found Matthew Strachan down the left side and his cross was set by Adam Brooks in the middle as he finished past Bonnyrigg keeper Tom Ritchie.

The pressure on Bonnyrigg continued and Caley Thistle had a second after just 17 minutes on the clock, another good move as Calum MacLeod found Billy Mckay and striker’s pass found Keith Bray in the box and he shrugged off his man and fired low into the net.

Bonnyrigg keeper Tom Ritchie was forced into a great save pushing Adam Brooks’ effort onto the post, as the striker met Matthew Strachan’s ball in the box.

Caley Thistle had a third before the break through Luis Longstaff, he met Billy Mckay’s pass in the box and did well to fire the ball low into the back of the net via the left post.

The second-half was a less eventful affair, with Charlie Gilmour seeing his effort from range going over the bar and behind.

In the closing stages, Bradley Rodden saw his effort go wide and past Jack Newman’s post.

Caley Thistle will now face Arbroath on Tuesday in their third Premier Sports Cup Group Stage match.
