Graham Rae, Chairman of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, added his voice to the many tributes paid to former Inverness Provost, Allan Sellar, who has died at the age of 93.
Mr Sellar was provost when the club moved to the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in 1996, kicking the first ceremonial ball to mark the opening. He was a strong supporter of the club and, in 2001, was appointed one of the founding trustees of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Trust Company, a registered charity which saw the club out of its financial difficulties at that time. He also helped set up the Supporters’ Trust.
Mr Rae said: “Mr Sellar took a big interest in the club and, until three years ago, he was heavily involved in the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Trust Company, being chairman for a number of years. His support over the years was hugely appreciated. He was a great statesman and proved to be a very able civic leader for Inverness for many years. He will be sorely missed and the club extends it sincere sympathies to his wife Brenda, family and the many friends who knew and admired him.”
