Our GoFitba project has been lucky enough to have been hosted at two of Inverness’s Primary schools, Cauldeen and Dalneigh Primary School. GoFitba is a brand new and exciting 12 week community project delivered by The Scottish Football Partnership Trust and Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. The GoFitba project is co-funded by The SFP Trust, The UEFA Foundation for Children and The Kilpatrick Fraser Charitable Trust.
Through a fun and progressive structure, the initiative will offer these young children a chance to enjoy and participate in an hour of fun football-based activity, followed by an hour where they will be taught some basic education around leading a healthier lifestyle through diet and nutrition. The kids will then all sit together to enjoy a hot, healthy meal served at their school and get the opportunity to visit The Caledonian Stadium on the final week.
Stuart McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer at The SFP Trust said “The sport of football when used positively can act as a significant tool for personal and community development. We are excited to be delivering this project with ICTFC – a club truly at the heart of the community – and to be given the opportunity to positively engage with local school children to encourage them towards a healthy and active lifestyle.”
Craig Masterton of ICTFC said, “We are delighted to be working in association with The SFP Trust on this new project which will see our club welcome 40 local school children over two 12 week blocks. We are always looking for new ways to engage with the local community and the GoFitba project is a fantastic way to showcase what we can offer to young members of our community at our excellent facilities here at The Caledonian Stadium. Participation in sport can bring a lifetime of benefits and we look forward to working with the children initially from Cauldeen and Dalneigh Primary Schools to Get Fit, Get Healthy and Have Fun!”
