Caley Thistle earned a valuable point at Tanandice against cinch Championship league leaders Dundee United.
Nathan Shaw finished of a fantastic team move to help earn Caley Thistle a point.
Shaw’s goal put Caley Thistle in front after 50 minutes after the winger finished off a low cross from Cameron Harper after a swift move.
United hit back just five minutes later as Kevin Holt headed past Mark Ridgers after meeting a Kai Foderingham corner.
Manager Duncan Ferguson was forced into one change as Morgan Boyes returned to the side to replace the injured Luis Longstaff.
It was a competitive first-half with chances for both sides.
After just six minutes on the clock, Cameron Harper produced a fine block to deny Kai Fotheringham from getting a shot away.
Caley Thistle threatened themselves, Nathan Shaw went on a good run through the middle and saw his effort blocked. United went close just a minute later as Kai Fotheringham advanced into the box but his effort was held by Mark Ridgers.
Nathan Shaw then combined well with Billy Mckay and the winger rode a challenge but saw his cut-back cleared by the United defence.
Caley Thistle had a big chance to open the scoring after 24 minutes, Max Anderson’s pass found Billy Mckay in the box, but the striker’s effort was saved by the legs of Jack Walton and United scrambled the rebound clear for a corner.
The resulting corner found Danny Devine in the box but his header was over the bar and behind.
Glenn Middleton then went close for United after receiving the ball down their left-hand side and flashing an effort just wide of the post with Louis Moult close to getting a tap in.
Louis Moult had a big chance of his own as he met a cross from Tony Watt free in the box, but he couldn’t direct his effort on goal.
Dundee United had a great chance to open the scoring just before the break. Kevin Holt saw his effort brilliantly saved by Mark Ridgers in the box while the rebound fell to Scott McMann but his effort was over and behind.

United drew level just five minutes later, Kevin Holt headed in from a Kai Fotheringham corner.
United kept the pressure on into the final stages where Ridgers pulled off a fantastic stop to keep out an effort from Glenn Middleton from just inside the box.
A point gained for Caley Thistle and up next it’s a home match against Ayr United at the Caledonian Stadium.
