Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC have, with regret, announced the departure of Duncan Shearer, following the expiry of his contract.
The Under-20s team, which was Duncan’s responsibility, has been discontinued as the club meet the budget challenges of relegation and the priority of pursuing a quick return to the Premiership.
Club chairman Willie Finlayson said today: “I spoke to Duncan today and expressed our sincere thanks for his outstanding service over the years as a player, assistant manager, first team coach and latterly with the Under-20s.”
“Duncan has made a distinguished contribution to this club on and off the pitch since coming to Caley Thistle 20 years ago. “I hope the supporters, too, will join me in expressing gratitude. I’ve assured Duncan that he can always be assured of a warm welcome at our stadium.”
Mr Finlayson added: “It is our intention, with his permission, to present a trophy, to be called the Duncan Shearer Cup, to be played for annually at our youth level, to mark his unique connection with Caley Thistle.”
