ICTFC v Peterhead
William Hill League 1
Saturday 9 August
3pm kick-off
Sarens PSG Stadium
Head Coach Scott Kellacher
On the season so far
“It’s been pretty good with a few learning curves, I’m very happy so far in terms of us having played really hard games, which we will learn from. We have games where we’ve scored goals which is positive, and we’ve really pushed ourselves to the limit playing against the teams above us.”
“Things have come together just nicely for the time of the year. We had a really good performance last weekend, the boys worked very hard, and it is important that we build on that.”
The new signings
“I think they’ve been great; we’ve identified them early and there’s been a lot of hard work behind the scenes to get them in.”
“You are hoping to get the players that fit your system of play and fits your dressing room. To get that two qualities is important as we need to get that special togetherness in our dressing room, on the pitch and about the Stadium.”
“We’ve done well with bringing people in, it looks like a lot of signings, but it’s not been ludicrous, it’s been finding the right player that wants the opportunity and wants to come and enjoy their football.”
On the Peterhead match
“When you look at Stenhousemuir last season, they came up and what a season they had. When teams have the momentum then it’s a good thing for them, so we know we’re going to be in for a hard game.”
“We watched their game against East Fife, they took their chances well and they’ve got some real good players there. I don’t think there will be an easy match in this league, we have to approach it in the right way, similar to last week where the attitude and work rate is right. If we work hard then we have players that can hurt teams and that is what we need to do on Saturday.”
On Billy Mckay’s start to the season and hitting 120goals for the club
“He’s been phenomenal, he’s been a great addition coming in as assistant manager with the way he sees the game and his goal scoring record is second to none.”
“He’s done it all his days and he’s done it in every league he’s played in. He’s got that bite and wants to keep pushing himself. He’s seeing the coaching side of things now and he’s been a breath of fresh air for this football club.”
Team News
“Ross Millen (Calf) is getting closer, he’s been doing a fair bit of work with David Proctor but it’s a long season ahead so we can’t take chances and risk him.”
“Paul Allan is close, he’s back in contention and could be involved in the squad this weekend.”
“Adam Mackinnon isn’t too far away, he’s back on the training ground. He’ll be another couple of weeks, he played a massive part for us last year so it’ll be great to have him back.”
“Jake Davidson is slowly getting there, he was able to get his boots back on for the first time this week which is great to see for him. That may not seem a big thing for people but it’s a massive thing for him. He’s gone through a hard time but it’s great to see him progressing.”
