Match report
This was supposed to be the last game at Brockville and there was an atmosphere which was a cross between a carnival and a wake in the event Brockville was to live on. The players matched the occasion and a classic encounter ended in a draw. ICT started well against a nervy defence and Davide Xausa scored in four minutes with a low angled drive. Falkirk eventually settled down and pressed hard. In 35 minutes David Hagen headed home but the referee gave a penalty for pushing. The home fans and players were furious and even more so when Les Fridge dived right and low to save Scott Crabbes penalty. Falkirk had the better of the second half and equalised on 50 minutes a cross from the left and a header by Jamie McQuilken. A minute later Myles Hogarth saved well from Dennis Wyness and in 56 minutes Fridge made a superb acrobatic save from a Crabbe shot. In 63 minutes the visitors took a surprising lead when Barry Wilson took a Xausa back-heel and flicked it over the advancing Hogarth. Crabbe equalised in 78 minutes when he stabbed home a loose ball after David Hagen miskicked. There was more excitement to come as Fridge made another flying save in 80 minutes from a David Nicholls half-volley. With five minutes left Bobby Mann was judged to have brought down Crabbe in the box but once more Fridge saved Crabbes penalty again low to the keepers right. With the full time whistle looming Wilson had a chance to steal the points when he was well placed in the box but mishit. It would have been unfair to the home side who fully deserved at least a point.
