Match report
A thoroughly deserved victory against a demoralised St Mirren. The absence of Richie Hart allowed Liam Keogh to make his first start of the season. Despite the visitors dominance the opening goal did not come until the half hour mark. Roy McBain sent a free kick from wide left to the back post, Keogh headed onto the bar and David Bingham was there to head in the rebound. Four minutes later Steve Hislop worked hard on the right to create space then ran into the box before sending in a low shot. Craig Hinchcliffe parried and McBain netted from six yards. In 57 minutes a neat Keogh pass into the box set up a low angled shot from McBain and his second goal of the afternoon. Bingham scored his second in 65 minutes when he headed home from eight yards after an accurate Stuart Golabek cross from the left wing. Saints misery was compounded in the last minute when John ONeill was sent off after squaring up to McBain. A fine three points for the visitors and a climb to joint third. Fifteen months ago an identical result led to the sacking of manger Tom Hendrie. Three days after this match his replacement John Coughlin stood down.
