Match report
The long journey to Stranraer ended in disappointment for the visiting fans despite their team dominating the first half. In 2 minutes they had a penalty claim turned down when Iain Stewart and Gary Matthews clashed in the area. A good Paul Cherry solo run then led to a wild shot but they had a chance when Barry Wilson was brought down on the edge of the area. Brian Thomson took the 20 yard free kick but shot over. In 20 minutes Duncan Shearer was felled in the box and Brian Thomson nearly burst the net with the penalty. The visitors had chances to increase their lead with the best falling to Iain Stewart and Ross Tokely. In both cases the build up play was good but the finishing poor. Stranraer fought back in the second half and Mark Campbell headed onto the bar after a Paul McIntyre shot was blocked. Stewart and Tokely again had chances for the Inverness side before Stranraer equalised in 61 minutes a Keith Knox shot rebounded to McIntyre and his shot on the turn gave Fridge no chance. Iain Stewart had another close range chance but Matthews produced a great save. With 10 minutes remaining a Tom Black cross sailed over the visitors defence and Gordon Young headed home at the back post. Wayne Addicoat had a chance in the dying minutes when he ran through the defence but he was crowded out. A frustrating afternoon for Steve Paterson his side should have won this game but could not take their chances.
