Match report
This defeat was a bitter blow after the best first half display seen all season. In 5 minutes a good Barry Robson run led to a Stewart cross which Dean Robertson took off the head of McCulloch. Three minutes later Robertson again saved well from a McCulloch 12 yard shot. In 22 minutes the visitors took a well deserved lead when the defence failed to clear a Robson cross and Stewart netted with a hook shot from 6 yards. 2 minutes later Stewart nearly made it two but Robertson tipped away his low shot. In 35 minutes another Stewart shot from the left went just past. Forfar created little in the first half and their best chance was in 40 minutes when Jamie Loney had a free header in the box but it went past. Forfar came back into it in the second half but it should have been 2-0 in 53 minutes when Shearer was well placed 15 yards out and hit it past the post. In 65 minutes a great Robson/Shearer move led to a Stewart lob off the bar. In 72 minutes Stewart flicked the ball to McCulloch in the box but his 15 yard shot was well saved by Robertson. The visitors rued these missed chances when Forfar took control in the last 10 minutes. In the 80th minute Fridge made a point blank save from Martin McLauchlan but 3 minutes later the same player made it 1-1. A cross from the back post by Andy Cargill found McLauchlan unmarked and he knocked it in. With 2 minutes left a throw in from the right was deflected over Fridge and he only managed to get a hand to it before the unmarked Doug Craig touched it home. The visitors were stunned that their superiority for most of the game had earned them nothing.
