Match report
A drab match but a deserved win for East Fife. The first half was even and the best efforts for the home side came in 23 minutes from Mike Teasdale - a great run and shot diverted for a corner - and a minute later from Brian Thomson - a 15 yard lob which William McCulloch anticipated well. 5 minutes later Les Fridge made a great double save from Barrie Moffat then he tipped over a Mark Donaghy 20 yard drive. 5 minutes into the second half the Fifers Gilbert Allan limped off and substitute Matt Dyer changed the game with his pace and power. In 52 minutes Paul Cherry tried to head clear a George Johnston free-kick but he sent it past Fridge. This inspired the visitors and they should have scored more. In 59 minutes Barrie Moffat was clear of the defence but hit the bar from 10 yards. In 68 minutes Moffat took a Gibb cross and headed powerfully onto the bar. The home side had a good spell after this. In 70 minutes a Charlie Christie 18 yard shot was deflected past and 5 minutes later a Brian Thomson 25 yard drive was well held by McCulloch. Their best chance fell to Daisy Ross with 3 minutes to go. A Barry Wilson run and pass found Ross unmarked on the edge of the box but his strong shot went over the bar.
