ICTFC Team News

Inverness travel to Glebe Park for the second time in the space of the week but this time in IRN-BRU Cup action against Aberdeen U20s.

ICTFC blew Brechin City away last weekend thanks to a double from Iain Vigurs and goals from Brad Mckay and Alex Cooper.

The win was Inverness’s first in the Ladbrokes Championship and it took them up to 7th in the table.

In the event of the scores being level at full time, there will be an additional 30 minutes of extra time and if the scores are still level after that period then penalty kicks will follow to decide the winner.

THE (ASST) MANAGER

ICTFC assistant manager Brian Rice warned of the threat that Aberdeen U20s could pose as he said “I’ve seen them in the last two game they’ve played, they are fit, physical and well drilled which you expect from a club like Aberdeen”

“If we take our eye off the ball and don’t prepare properly or we’re not mentality ready then it’ll be a very tough game.”

“We have to show them all the respect they deserve, no game is easy. It’s eleven against eleven and if you aren’t ready to fight your corner and to outdo your opponent one against one then it’s going to be very difficult.”

“We need to make sure that we are mentally right going into this game.”

THE OPPONENT

Aberdeen’s U20s have only played three competitive matches this season with them beating St Johnstone U20s in the challenge and drawing with Ross County in their first league match.

In their last match against Motherwell U20s on Tuesday, they were held to a 0-0 draw with Motherwell playing with ten men the majority of the match.

They are managed by former ICTFC midfielder Paul Sheerin, who was previously the manager of Arbroath and oversaw the club’s 2010/11 promotion to the Second Division.

Sheerin is able to field two first team Aberdeen players if they are made available to him as changes to the rules of the Irn-Bru Cup mean Premiership colt teams can field up to two ‘mentors’, which could be any two overaged players at the club.

TEAM NEWS

Carl Tremarco returns to the squad and is available for selection. Gary Warren is out but will return to training next week, Zak Elbouzedi and Aaron Doran remain out. Collin Seedorf is out and will travel to Glasgow on Monday to find out the full extent of an ankle injury which he picked up in a bounce game on Tuesday.
