Preview: Ross County v Inverness Caledonian Thistle
So this is what it all comes down to then. Inverness CT just one result away from European Football. The ones trying to stop them on Sunday...Ross County. It's the script no one could of foretold at the start of the season, the Highland teams rising above all expectations to play in this top six clash...
In any other year, simply saying that the last home game of the season was a chance to bid farewell to another SPL season and appreciating departing players would be enough. Any SPL season is a long haul and there’s that sense of relief that we have survived another twelve months in the top tier of Scottish Football. Not this year.
ICT head into this weeks match holding on to third place in the SPL with a 1 point lead over 4th place St Johnstone, a 2 point lead over 5th place Ross County and 9 points behind opponents Motherwell who sit in second place and are guaranteed European football next season. So it's still all to play for.
Inverness make what is for them a short journey down the A9 for Saturdays high noon European shoot out against a Perth team that are the only real rivals left standing. The two sides are like a couple of gunfighters who have seen off all comers in the saloon and on the boardwalk and now stand in the main street facing each other. It’s glory or tumbleweed.
Another historic moment for ICT as they compete in their first ever game in the top six of Scottish Football. Opponents Celtic are on the verge of another League Championship and avoiding defeat will see them crowned champs. Five games left for ICT to grab a spot in Europe, so hold on to your seat-belts, this is going to be some run in.
Preview: Inverness CT v St Johnstone & TOP SIX PARTY!!!
It’s preview time again, and this one has sneaked up on the outside and surprised me – it’s Friday night football time!!! I only hope my horse in the national does the same thing, and achieves what ICT have already this year – a finish at the top table.
