Last week and this week the community department have been visiting schools around Inverness, taking some classes for football and having fun sessions. They have been working on dribbling with the football and keeping close control, plus also some fun games. The classes have been great and it’s fantastic to see the kids enjoying running around playing football. We have visited Rosebank Primary, Smithton Primary, Cauldeen Primary and Bun-sgoil Ghaidhlig Inbhir Nis so far and have more visits to these schools, plus Hilton Primary and Lochardil Primary this week.
Next week is the start of our hotshots program. We are hosting in our courses in Inverness, Aviemore, Nairn and Fort William. Our courses are kid’s ages between 5-14 years old and open to boys and girls. With the use of small sided games the Hotshots courses are designed to ensure, whether it’s the first time you have kicked a ball, or whether you star in a football team, that you will be challenged and pick up some new skills. Each participant leaves the course happy and with improved football skills. If you are keen to learn football in a fun environment then sign up.
Inverness Down Syndrome Group
On Saturday it was our monthly session with the Inverness Down Syndrome Group which is held on the first Saturday of each month at the Hilton Community Centre. We set up activities for kids who have Down syndrome and also for their brothers and sisters. It is focussed on working on different skills such as dribbling, passing and also we finish off with shooting which is always a popular activity. We look forward to returning next month.
