History

The ICT Community Development Department has been established since August 2003 to promote, foster and develop links within the local and surrounding community.

Aims & Objectives

The aim is to deliver a concentrated and comprehensive programme of events, where access would be constructed to anable mass participation opportunities regardless of the ethnicity, gender or social background of the individual through means of association football.  Programmes include:

  • School Visits:  These visits enable our coaching staff to get into the heart of the community to encourage and promote physical activity and a healthy life-style option.  We aim to address the social/personal development issues that make this group vulnerable to substance misuse and becomming involved in dangerous, illegal or anti-social activities.

  • Hot-shots - School Holiday Programme:  Regional football courses are held throughout the annual school holidays at numerous venues allowing boys and girls aged between 4 and 12 the opportunity to particpate in a safe, fun and football education environment.

  • Soccer School:  These sessions aim to improve young players' basic technical skills and their understanding of the game.  They run for four weeks periodically both inside and outdoor dependant on the time of year.  Potentially talented players will be offered the chance to progress to the Soccer Academy.

  • Soccer Academy:  Designed to enhance each player's technical and tactical skill level whilst performing within a challenging, demanding and rewarding environment.  These centres are designed to introduce a situation where children can be invited to attend the ICT Development Squad coaching sessions.

  • Football Development:  Many of the current players associated with ICTFC have been recruited through the various coaching initiatives delivered by the Youth & Community Department (TEAM ICT).  The Development teams travel and compete regularly throughout Scotland, with ages ranging from Under 8's to Under 19's.

Overview

The programme of events have been organised, co-ordinated and delivered through fun based, educational activities.  Furthermore, theoretical topics have been delivered through professional partnerships on important and relevant health and social issues.

The integration of multi-sports and social issues relative to culture, education, enterprise, health and well being have and are currently involved in developing, evaluating and improving for further beneficial and successful initiatives.  Due to the great interest and positive feedback received since its inception, an overwhelming sense of achievement and immense satisfaction has been experienced by many.

Although wide ranging, many important partnerships have collectively been involved within the discussion, organisation, co-ordination and successful implementation of numerous and diversified projects throughout the Highlands.  The loyalty and endeavour shown by all within the ICTFC establishment has ensured this innovative, inspirational and progressive initiative can emulate the success that our technical department has continually experienced.
