140717 brora group 001FRIENDLY : Brora 0 v 2 Inverness CT

Friends Reunited - a website where you can connect with old school chums or work colleagues. The website, first launched in 2000 may now be overshadowed by the likes of Facebook and Twitter who lead the way on the social media front.

However if they were ever looking at ways to promote the business then a sponsoring the pre-season between Brora Rangers and Caley Thistle might not be a bad shout.

140717 brora williams 001John Hughes took his men to Highland League champions Brora Rangers in their fourth pre season game and would come up several former players. Indeed six of the Cattachs starting eleven have pulled on the blue and red jerseys before.

Caley Jag legends Grant Munro and Ross Tokely teamed up in the back line with Gavin Morrison, Dale Gillespie, Andrew Greig and Zander Sutherland also strutting their stuff for Brora.

140717 brora warren 001The home side, who had held Rangers to a draw a fortnight ago, were keen to make an impression but it was Caley Thistle got into their stride early on finding the opener fourteen minutes into the game.

Graeme Shinnie was allowed room to roam down the left hand side eventually bursting into the 18 yard box only to be brought down with the referee not hestitating to point to the spot.

James Vincent was handed the opportunity from the spot and didn't pass it up firing an excellent penalty high into the right corner past a helpless Joe Malin.

140717 brora vincent 001The first half wasn't a classic and almost ended with the hosts getting level. Tokely was fouled on the egde of the Caley Thistle box allowing Gavin Morrison a sight at goal from the free kick. His set piece did manage to find a way through the three man wall but brought out a good save from first half goalkeeper Ryan Esson.

John Hughes introduced some subs at the break and one of them found the net eight minutes in. Josh Meekings, now operating at right back, crossed well for Christie to head past a static Malin only for the flag to come up for offside.

Inverness didn't have to wait long for the second with Markey Watkins taking advantage of a defensive mishap and allowed time to go one on one with Malin, just managed to squeeze the ball beyond the advances of the former Ross County man.

140717 brora mckay 001Watkins, on for Billy Mckay at the break and playing in a similar role to the Northern Irishman, raced through on goal shortly after but was stopped in his tracks by an alert Malin.

The ex County and Elgin man prevented a third goal with nine minutes left, stopping an Aaron Doran shot with the ankle at the near post.

ICT: Esson, Raven, Warren, Meekings, Shinnie, Ross, Doran, Vincent, Williams, Mckay, Tansey
Subs: Brill, Tremarco, Brown, Ferguson, Baptie, Watkins, Christie, Polworth
